The European Boxing Federation (EBF) is proud to announce the successful completion of the 1st Ringside Doctors Course, held in Oslo, Norway, on 6–7 September 2025. The course was led by the Chair of the EBF Medical Commission, Dr. David McDonagh, and marked an important milestone in strengthening medical expertise within European boxing.

Over the course of two intensive days, 24 doctors from 13 countries participated in a dynamic program that combined lectures, discussions, and practical training sessions. Delegates traveled from Andorra, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Türkiye, and Wales. Five female doctors took part in this pioneering initiative, underlining the growing diversity within the medical community of our sport.

The course’s primary objective was to enhance ringside medical standards across Europe, ensuring that athletes receive the highest level of care during competition. Following this successful launch, the Federation plans to invite selected participants to upcoming events, thereby expanding the EBF Ringside Doctor Pool to better support competitions across the continent.

Looking ahead, the EBF Medical Commission intends to organize the 2nd Ringside Doctors Course in September 2026, further consolidating this vital program.

The European Boxing Federation extends its sincere gratitude to the Norwegian Boxing Federation (NBF) for hosting and supporting this inaugural course. Their commitment and investment were instrumental in making the event a success.
